Beck is 10 months old!

Beck turned 10 months old this weekend. I can't believe my tiny little angel is such a big boy. Where has the time gone? I wish all of you could get to know Beck. He has a spunky personality, and he's always in motion. He is quick to smile and his eyes are filled with a playful spirit. I don't mean to gush, but the love you feel for your child is super overwhelming. Seeing such a tiny person grow into his own unique self is such an honor. Beck is more than I could have ever asked for in a son.

This weekend he took a step and balanced. He did this twice. Does this qualify as "first steps"? Witnessing these "firsts" are surreal. I even felt moved yesterday when he tasted his first piece of canteloupe. I'm just a tad sentimental! Besides the very exciting first steps, we had a nice weekend. Beck and I went to the climbing gym with Laura and Brewster. We all went to our friend Candace's 30th bday party, which more kids attended than adults. When did everyone start having kids? We were just kids a few years ago. Anyway, I finished knitting Baby Abell's booties in preparation for Mari's big return home to the states. Yay Mari! Finally, I expressed some gratitude to the universe for watering my vegetables, which were sadly wilting. (Brit- not only do I need blogging lessons, but gardening too!)

Well, besides all that I have been filled with ideas and aspirations lately. Alas, the time to blog is short, so for now you are stuck reading about weekend updates and looking at Beck photos. Speaking of, here is a slide show looking back at the first few months of the Beckers arrival on earth.

Here are some videos of Beck practice-walking with his push-toy from baby walking expert Ansley!

Beck and his pals

Beck and his two very good friends occassionally share some good times, toys, laughs, and hair pulling. Here is Beck hanging out with Brewster in our front yard. Brewster is such a happy baby. He was born smiling in late July, almost two weeks overdue. Sometimes, Brewster and Beck meet up at the climbing gym and roll around on the mats together while their moms climb. We love Brewster, and we are so glad he is our friend.

Here is Xavier. He is Beck's friend from San Antonio. He was born last April. Xavier is super special and always very sweet. We wish we could see him more often. Maybe this summer Xavier and Beck can visit Sea World together, since Xavier's dad works there.

Other events as of late

Last week Aunt Stephanie sent Beck some new embroidered bibs. We love them, Steph-Thanks!

On Saturday afternoon, Eric and I took Beck to hear his first live music! We walked to Auditorium Shores on Lake Austin and heard the Jellydots, a children's band. Then, we went to 6th St. and heard Rides on Rides, an L.A. based band whose keyboard player is Ashliegh Prather- a friend of mine from Lafayette. Both bands are really good. Check them out on My Space. Unfortunately we forgot the camera for the adventure. When we returned home, Beck did a little chiling out in his chair from Grand Nan.

Then Beck and I read a book, also from Grand Nan.

Meanwhile, Eric chopped down a very dead:-( fig tree in our back yard. We hope to use the tree for cooking. I've heard that fig lumber makes for good grillin'!

Finally, we went inside and got Beck ready for bed. Here he is in his jammies, very proud after standing on his own in the middle of the floor.

See Beck Sliver

Ever since Beck started crawling around 2 months ago, he learned to slither down the steps separating our living room from the computer/playroom. I've finally captured it on video. Click on the hyperlink to see the video. http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w151/acoussan/?action=view&current=3-18029.flv

(I still have not takent the time to learn how to improve my posting techniques, so let me apologize to all of you reading the blog. I promise that one day it will be pretty and fancy!)

Otherwise, we are doing well. Beck has a little cold, but continues to smile and give out high fives upon demand. This morning he laughed his head off when I played peak-a-boo with a colander. He's also discovered the volumne knob on the stereo and bee-lines for it whenever he can. What can I say he loves music.

Beck's new swing

This weekend, Nonnie and Papere bought Beck his first swing. We hung it in the front yard. Beck loves it! Check out the video here:

Here are some more pictures from the week with Nonnie and the weekend with Papere including Beck's first encounter with a mixer when Nonnie made cookies with him (not for him).

O.K. This is my first time posting a video. Help! I uploaded the video from my camera to my computer. Then, loaded the video to photobucket to create a URL. Finally, I posted the picture on Blogger, but I added it as an image. Is there a special place to add video? Britten???? However, if you click on small x in the blank spot where the video should appear, the video (via photobucket) will pop up. Yikes;-)

Nonnie visiting for the week

Well, over a week has gone by since I last blogged, and since that time Beck has changed even more. His rapid growth and development amazes me. What a strong boy he is. My mom, Nonnie, is visiting this week, so Beck is having a great ole time. They have been going on walks, playing games, and getting to know one another even better. Here are some pictures of their trip together to the museum.

Yay Lyla

vq=323;>5:;>59:>WSNRCG=323568958;;93vq0mrj[1].jpg">

Last weekend Steph, Clint, and Lyla came to Austin to visit us. The weekend was perfect, filled with lots of play time for the babies and lots of eatin' for the adults. Having the McDowells stay with us was memorable, and I am looking forward to fostering a life-long friendship between Lyla and Beck, like Steph and I share. I still can't believe that Steph and I are parents now. Seems just like yesterday we were making mud pies and dreaming of being world class gymnasts. Time flies by so quickly, and one day Lyla and Beck will be in our shoes looking back on their childhood. I know we will do our best to make these babies the happiest and healthiest they can be, and hope that the world is kind to them. They deserve so much love and the best of everything.

In other news, Beck has stopped nursing- cold-turkey style. He has been biting me quite a bit when we nurse, and then Monday he completely lost interest. I am sad to see the nursing subside but I have to let Beck take the lead in this area. It's his belly and his will that determines how he chooses to eat these days.
